Grants
Any organization providing services in the Highland Lakes may apply to the Highland Lakes Legacy Fund. However, grants will not be awarded to:
- Organizations that are not currently 501(c) 3
- Religious organizations for religious purposes
- Political or lobbying organizations
- Endowments or other forms of redistribution
- Events or fundraisers
- Individuals
Grants will be $500-$3,000 one-year grants, and applications, along with all supporting materials, are due at our offices August 21, 2009. Grant finalists will be notified. Representatives of grant finalists will then meet with the Legacy Fund Advisory Board to present their projects to the Board and to answer questions from Board members. All qualified grant requests will also be forwarded to Austin Community Foundation and to all Legacy and ACF donor-advised funds for review. The Legacy Community Fund Grants will be awarded in November, 2009.
The Fund also supports annual Teacher Enrichment Grants. These annual grants for teachers are for education needs to include, but not limited to:
- Category I : classroom project (e.g. expendable supplies, books, special equipment)
- Category II: advanced training (e.g. college courses, endorsements, certifications)
- Category III: professional development (e.g. conferences, seminars, staff development)
- Category IV: other (use only if the project does not seem to fit in a category above).
